Adam Simpson

Adam undertook his BA Illustration degree at Edinburgh School of Art, taking an exchange to Rhode Island School of Design for part of his studies. This was then followed by a Masters degree at the Royal College of Art in London.

Straight out of college, Adam started working on his first commission, a mammoth artwork for the interior of an elevator at the Boundary Hotel in East London. The artwork was devised around a grid of boundary walls. Each walled segment about 170mm square. Each journey in the elevator gives the visitor a chance to study a new scene in the artwork. A geometric toile de jouy of sorts.

Adam has continued to accept each new project as a challenge, often devising an approach which will give him the opportunity to try something new in his work. Whilst constantly looking to enhance his body of work, Adam has produced an exceptionally consistent portfolio over his short career which has developed fluidly from his personal projects. The work he has produced has been used at both micro and macro scale by his clients. From a billboard campaign for Coca-Cola to regular newspaper editorials. Most recently Adam has been commissioned by Bafta to produce the invites and 5 programme covers for the 2011 awards ceremony. In October 2009 Adam was voted an ADC Young Gun, one of the top 50 creatives, under 30 years of age. In 2010 Adam won an award of excellence from the Society for News Design

In the last three years Adam has only momentarily taken a break from illustration commissions to run the New York Marathon and climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
