Barry Falls

Barry Falls is an illustrator and author living in Co. Down, Northern Ireland. He works with pen, pencil, paint and found materials, collaging individual sections of an artwork together digitally. Texture and vibrant, saturated colours are a hallmark of his work. Facial expressions, nuances of gesture or posture allow for the creation of complex personalities in his images. A love of drawing animals and flora is apparent in much of his work.

Barry is a frequent contributor to Netflix Queue magazine. He also works regularly with The Observer and Virgin Atlantic’s inflight magazine ‘Vera’ amongst other editorial clients. He has created artwork for campaigns for Brand USA, GlaxoSmithKline and Channel 4’s ‘The Great British Bake Off’. He produced the poster for the award-winning documentary ‘My Octopus Teacher’ and has created several jigsaws and spin off products for Laurence King Publishing as well as fabric and wallpaper designs for MOOUI. Barry’s artwork has been commissioned for use in the offices of Google as well as museum institutions. He has produced book covers for Faber & Faber, Penguin Random House and Bloomsbury. Barry has written and illustrated four picture books for children as well as collaborating with naturalist Dara McAnulty on non-fiction titles ‘Wild Child’ and ‘Wild Child’s Book of Birds’.

Netflix Tudum

For more than two two years, we've collaborated with Barry on his gorgeous illustrations for Netflix Tudum (formerly Queue), depicting dream celebrity dinner parties. Not only is he adept atcapturing the subjects' likenesses, he puts so much thoughtful detail into the compositions, from re-creating director Paolo Sorrentino's childhood kitchen to rendering a who's who of Mexican screen legends in the style of a Diego Rivera mural. Barry is also a joy to work with, cheerfully delivering his work on deadline and turning aroundrevisions with ease. We love working with him!

Netflix Tudum : Dinner Party

Barry Falls illustrates the Dinner Party feature for Netflix Tudum magazine, commissioned by Pentagram.

Each issue a Netflix actor or other prominent figure is asked to imagine and describe their “dream dinner party.” This includes choosing guests, the menu, and sometimes the setting and entertainment!

In 'A Wild Child's Book of Birds' the young naturalist, Dara McAnulty takes the reader through a year in the life of the birds you will find in Britain and Ireland. The book is divided into four sections with Dara describing what birds do in each season, as well as explaining about birdsong, beaks, nests and eggs, the science of flight, and migration.
