Fien Jorissen

Fien Jorissen is an illustrator living and working in Antwerp. Her work imagines stories that can be told from multiple perspectives through multi-panel narrative observations and an underlying surrealism or playfulness, punctuated with frozen moments and symbolism.

With this approach Fien has been tasked with illustrating many complex topics covering subjects such as indigenous language, urban planning, public health and educational reform. Fien has worked for editorial clients such as Bruxelles en Mouvements, Wired, El País, Psychologies Heute and de Volkskrant. She has also worked on many fiction briefs for magazines and newspapers including The Financial Times, The New York Review of Books and The New Yorker. Fien has produced book covers for Penguin Random House for Jeanette Winterson’s ‘Oranges are Not the Only Fruit’ and a trio of covers for a series of Rosemary Tonks novels. Her artworks have been translated into large format installations and murals, as well as repeat patterns for fabrics used as furoshiki cloth, and stationery products using paper waste.
