Franz Lang is an Italian illustrator, living in London. She is particularly interested in the work of 20th century illustrators such as Vyacheslav Legkobot and Kveta Pacovská, and the painter Fortunato DePero. Everyday experiences influence her artworks; their inhabitants, their postures and their outfits. Colour is an important part of Franz’ approach to communication and is often inspired by her own photography. Moving image is something that Franz is always experimenting with, as a natural extension to her drawings. Franz’s work has frequently been employed for branding projects such as the original roll out of Mailchimp’s illustrated identity. She has produced packaging and campaigns for Fortnum & Mason, animations for Rapha and Etsy and artworks for murals and public spaces such as Madison Square Gardens. She has worked editorially for Dwell, Elle Décor, Neue Zürcher Zeitung and The New Yorker amongst others.
