Mari’s energetic and expressive artworks are informed by regular sketching and figure studies. In her commissioned work she often communicates through the body language and facial expressions of her characters. Mari has worked regularly for international editorial clients such as Die Zeit, Süddeutsche Zeitung and The New York Times. She has created advertising campaigns for Fortnum & Mason, posters and advertising for the theatre company Het Zuidelijk Toneel and patterns and illustrations for the clothing brand Deus Ex Machina. Mari has also written and illustrated six children’s books. Most recently 3,2,1 published by Gyldendal receiving much critical acclaim.
