JONNY HANNAH

Shipbuilders and Fisherfolk Hartlepool

Part of the Shipbuilders & Fisherfolk exhibition at Hartlepool Art Gallery, a commission exploring and celebrating the maritime heritage of Hartlepool. The work that Jonny created draws inspiration from the Museum of Hartlepool’s collections, the heritage buildings themselves, the landscape and bygone industries of the North East of England, and hundreds of tales and contributions from the local community

Patton’s Pies, 55cm high, paint on wood

A woman who lives in the Channel Islands, responded to one of Jonny’s calls for information and contacted him with a story of her grandad, who as a young boy, would catch and kill rabbits, which then became the best pies in all of Teesside alas, Patton’s no longer exists… but it’s been given a new lease of life in the ‘Purveyors of Yesteryear’ section of Jonny’s exhibition at The Museum of Hartlepool
